Stroud Engineers Deliver Major Refurbishment Projects at BMW

Rotec engineers carried out a major refurbishment of the Feed Line and Press at a BMW plant in Gloucestershire.

Further work taken on the Feed Line, Press and Overload/Protection/Lubrication HPUs included:

  • Draining of the working fluid and cleaning of the reservoir.
  • Replacement of pressure and return hydraulic filters, pressure and return.
  • Replacement of pressure and return hydraulic filters, pressure and return.
  • Resealing of duplex filter block.
  • Removal of existing and refitting of new motor pump sets.

All refurbishment works were carried out on time, in budget and to the client’s expectations and standards.

Defence Hose Assemblies

Hose Assemblies forJackal HMT

The Jackal HMT series is a supremely versatile platform with unparalleled cross‑country performance.

Already well-proven in the harsh terrain of the Afghanistan battlefield, the 400 has a unique air suspension system that allows the selection of a variable ride height to match the terrain and also, enable internal loading within CH-47 Chinook.

Rotec supported Babcock (DML) in 2009 with production of hose assemblies for the Jackal.

Rotec’s technical expertise, infrastructure and ability to utilise Parker technologies enabled the supply of the specialist hose kits suitable for hydraulic and auxiliary services. Kits were supplied fully assembled and tested.

Hose Doctor: minimizing downtime at local quarry

Rotec were pleased to be recently joined by two Hose Doctor operatives: Matt Bearpark and Phil O’Connor. Matt covers Somerset and Bristol areas, while Phil covers areas surrounding Cardiff, Gloucester and Bristol.

Tower Leg Winches

Matt was recently called out to a local quarry, where two rams were leaking and needed to be back at work asap.

Matt relates:

“One ram was bent and the other had deep gouging in the rod causing leaking from both rams. Brand new rods had to machined and fitted along with new seal kits fitted. After removing rams from the excavator arm fitted inside the crusher housing I took them to Ram Reman” (Rotec’s sister company based in Wimborne, specialising in repair and manufacture of rams – hydraulic cylinders).

“The removal and refit took me 4 hours in total, while Ram Reman spent a day repairing and testing the ram functions, ready for refit. I was very happy with the feedback I received, the customer was really pleased with the short breakdown period and now the arms are working a lot tighter than they had before.”

Due to time constraints the repaired rams were not re-sprayed, but now work better than ever! Visit Ram Reman’s website for more information (new site currently under construction).
